CTH VV / West Pioneer Road

City of Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County

CTH VV (West Pioneer Road) will be reconstructed approximately 500' west of Hickory Street to approximately 500' west of Main Street with an urban roadway section including curb & gutter and storm sewer.  A multi-use recreation path will be constructed on the south side of the roadway from approximately 500' west of Hickory Street to Main Street, connecting the Wild Goose State Trail to Main Street.  Modern roundabouts will replace the existing signalized intersections at Hickory Street and Morris Street.

The project also includes a new grade separation railroad structure (roadway under railroad) and a new bridge structure carrying West Pioneer Road over the East Branch Fond du Lac River.  The construction of the structure over the East Branch of the Fond du Lac River was showcased in Aspire Bridge Magazine.  You can see a copy of the article here.  To see an example of a similar railroad underpass located on the USH 151 bypass in Fond du Lac, click here.

Construction Schedule Update (12/01/2011)

The overall project has been broken up into two separate construction phases.

Phase 1 - Morris Street (excluding the intersection) to Main Street was reconstructed including a new bridge over the E. Branch of the Fond du Lac River.  This phase reopened to traffic on November 4, 2011.

Phase 2 - 500' West of Hickory Street through the intersection of Morris Street, including the railroad underpass will begin in 2012 and finish in fall of 2013.

CTH VV (West Pioneer Road) will be open to through traffic over the winter months of 2011-2012.

Utility relocation work is needed prior to the roadway construction.  There will be utilities relocating starting in early spring of 2011 and continuing throughout the year.  This work is not part of the roadway construction contract.
